Mathub · release notes
What's new in Mathub
Every release, newest first. Mathub ships most weeks; the current build is 2026.10.22.4. Ideas and bug reports are welcome on the class board or with the flag on any page.
Dark mode readable again
Thu, Oct 22, 2026 · build 2026.10.22.4
- In dark mode, text is light again on every page: the calmer look had left it dark on dark. The start page’s sky turns to night too, so the heading no longer sits on white clouds.
- Your plan’s page now speaks in credits: every plan has Bo, and the plan decides how many credits you get each month.
A calmer Mathub
Thu, Oct 22, 2026 · build 2026.10.22.3
- The same Big Sky, with less in the way: thinner lines, flatter buttons, lighter headings and more room. The sky, the mountains, Bo and every class’s colour stay.
- The top bar keeps what you use: Call Bo, your inbox, search and your account (Ask Bo is in the sidebar and in the corner). The sidebar shows the date and time on one line (tap the time for the term’s progress), and New opens one box for anything you want to add.
Credits for Bo, a clearer Call Bo, and Bo draws anything
Thu, Oct 22, 2026 · build 2026.10.22.2
- Bo is on every plan now, paid in credits. Each month free accounts get 100, Pro 1,000 and Max 2,000. A question uses a little, by how much Bo had to read and write; calls are paid by the minute; a picture he makes is 15. Need more? Buy 1,000 for $10 on the new Usage page (account menu → Usage & credits); bought credits never run out. Usage shows what you used, on what, and when your credits come back. Call time you bought before is now credits.
- Call Bo has its own button: in the top bar on every page, on each class page and on the start page. Pick the class to talk about (or Anything else), see how many minutes your credits make, and start.
- Bo can draw anything: 3D surfaces you turn with a finger, contour maps, slope fields, curves like circles and roses, diagrams he draws himself, and pictures made by an image model. Any drawing opens big with View large.
- Bo remembers you better. Mathub keeps one file about you with your classes, how you learn and short summaries of your long chats and calls, so his help and his pictures fit you. Long chats and calls are folded into a summary as they go, so he stays sharp. See it or download it in Ask Bo → What Bo knows.
- Shorter answers: a sentence or two on calls, and no padding in the chat. Professor Bo talks at a normal pace now and saves his stories.
- On his board, lines that mix words and math show properly, and graph numbers are bigger on phones.
Cut in on Bo again
Thu, Oct 22, 2026 · build 2026.10.22.1
- You can talk over Bo again to stop him, on every device, including iPhones and right from his first hello. Mathub now tells your voice from his own coming back through the speakers, so he stops for you within a moment but not for himself. A quick “mm-hmm” makes him carry on. Tapping him still stops him too.
Request a class, and calls you pay for by the hour
Wed, Oct 21, 2026 · build 2026.10.21.1
- Classes now come from requests. Missing a class? Request it with its syllabus (a PDF, a Word file or a photo): the file is checked for malware first, Mathub’s team builds the class with Bo, and everyone who asked hears when it is ready. Anyone can request now, not only professors and TAs. The classes you made before stay yours.
- Mathub Max is now $20 a month, with an hour of calls with Bo every month. Want more? Buy another hour for $10 on the new Calls page; it never runs out at the end of the month.
- The new Calls page (in your account menu) shows your call time, every call, what you bought, and how Bo sounds on calls.
Calls with Bo that hold up
Tue, Oct 20, 2026 · build 2026.10.20.2
- Bo no longer stops and starts again mid-sentence: the app doesn’t cut him off to correct the math any more (he gets the check for his next turn instead), he answers one thing at a time, and a short “mm-hmm” or a noise doesn’t make him start over.
- He understands you better: what you say is written down in your language with your class’s words as hints, and when he didn’t catch something he asks you to say it again instead of guessing.
- No more “I ran into an error”: when a page or a drawing doesn’t work out, he fixes it quietly and carries on.
- A dropped connection no longer ends the call: it says “reconnecting…” and comes back as the same call, with your board and the clock, and Bo picks up where you were. Only a whole minute without a connection ends it.
- New in the call’s settings: “I’m wearing headphones” and “My speakers echo” (your mic stays closed while he talks, so he can’t interrupt himself; tap him to stop him).
Switches for Bo’s emails
Tue, Oct 20, 2026 · build 2026.10.20.1
- Administrators can turn off the recap emails after calls with Bo and the heads-up three days before an exam for the whole site, in the admin panel (Site settings → Email). Recaps stay in the chat. When a switch is off, Settings stops offering it to members.
Meet Professor Bo, recaps after calls, and study rooms
Mon, Oct 19, 2026 · build 2026.10.19.6
- Bo has a character now, and you pick it. Professor Bo, the new default, is an 80-year-old Harvard professor: exacting, dry and very hard to impress. Or pick Coach Bo, Detective Bo, Zen Bo, or Buddy Bo (the Bo you knew). Each has his own manner, voice and look; change him in Settings, at the top of Ask Bo, or in a call’s settings.
- After a call, Bo leaves you a recap in the chat: what you covered, the slip to watch out for and three problems to try, which also go into your mistakes notebook, ready now. It is emailed to you too (turn that off in Settings → Account).
- The slips the math check catches on a call become practice in your mistakes notebook.
- Three days before an exam in your classes, Mathub sends you a heads-up with a review call: Bo starts with your weakest topics and asks you exam-style questions one at a time.
- Study rooms: on a call, open a study room and give up to three classmates the code. They see the board and the captions, write on the board with you, and type questions that Bo answers out loud.
- Invite a classmate: when they join through your link, you both get 10 more free minutes with Bo.
- Mathub Max calls use Bo’s stronger voice model; the free minutes keep the light one.
- A thumbs down under Bo’s answers sends the answer to Mathub’s team to review, and administrators get a Bo quality page with what the math check caught each week.
Bo checks the math before he says you’re right
Mon, Oct 19, 2026 · build 2026.10.19.5
- Bo no longer agrees with a wrong answer. Mathub now checks the math itself, exactly: what you say on a call (“x equals 11 minus 3, so x equals 6”), what you type, a bare answer to his question, and an answer to the problem on the board. When something is wrong, Bo stops and tells you kindly where it slipped, and lets you fix it.
- Bo’s own math is checked too: if he says or writes something wrong, he corrects himself; if you were right and he said you weren’t, he takes it back. A page with a step that does not follow never goes up.
- On calls Bo has an exact calculator for checking answers, steps, derivatives, antiderivatives and limits, and he uses it before he judges your work, handwriting included.
- In the chat, a reply with a slip in it is written again with the slip fixed before you see it.
Call Bo free for 10 minutes, see a call in one minute, and a simpler start page
Mon, Oct 19, 2026 · build 2026.10.19.4
- Every account without Max can now call Bo free for 10 minutes, once: Call Bo free on the start page or in Ask Bo. Live calls and basic voice both count, the call’s clock shows the free minutes left, and when they are used up the call says so and points to Max.
- A new page, Mathub Max (from the start page, Ask Bo and the plans), plays a call with Bo by itself in under half a minute: you write, he circles the slip, shows the steps on a page and draws a graph. Pause, replay or read what they say; with reduced motion it shows the finished call.
- The start page is shorter and calmer: class cards show the class, its next exam and one button; Your day starts with today, what is due and the week (Customize brings back the rest); the extra row of buttons is gone (the timer is in the sidebar, the d20 on each class); and the week, classmates and study guides are folded under More to explore, which only loads when you open it.
- Visitors see one line about calling Bo, with the one-minute demo.
- A class page no longer shows an empty From Canvas box.
- News from Mathub: a few emails a term about new things. Each one has a link to stop them, and Settings → Account has a switch. Administrators write them in the admin panel (Email everyone): preview, a test to themselves, then the send, in batches, with pause and stop.
- Spanish and Russian for everything new.
A whiteboard you share with Bo, captions like a video’s, and graphs you can move
Mon, Oct 19, 2026 · build 2026.10.19.3
- On a call with Bo the whole screen is now a whiteboard you share. Write your work on it with a pen (a stylus works, with pressure), highlight, erase, type, or put a photo of a problem on it.
- Tap Show Bo and he reads what you wrote, finds the first slip or tells you it is right, and marks your writing like a tutor with a pen: a circle round the mistake, a check, a note beside it. On a live call he also follows along as you write.
- His pages go up as cards right next to your work. Drag them, fold them, put them away; Bo’s pages brings them back. Your board is kept for the class, ready for the next call.
- Captions now look like a video’s: white on black at the bottom, two lines that roll up, and Bo’s words appear as he says them, not all at once. Make them bigger, solid or outlined, with or without names, and turn them on or off with C.
- Bo’s graphs move like the Calc I grapher: drag them, zoom with the wheel or a pinch, point at a curve to read it and its slope. Open one in the grapher to add your own functions, the derivative and a tangent line you slide along the curve.
- In Ask Bo, Write it out opens the same board, and what you write goes with your question.
Hiding the sidebar works everywhere
Mon, Oct 19, 2026 · build 2026.10.19.2
- Hiding the sidebar on the start page or a planner page now hides it, instead of stretching it over the whole screen. The menu button at the top left brings it back, and says so.
Add any class to Mathub, and Bo on every page with Pro
Mon, Oct 19, 2026 · build 2026.10.19.1
- Anyone with a Mathub account can now turn a syllabus into a class for everyone, for free: drop it in on Create a class and Bo writes the whole class, then it goes on Mathub for every student who takes it. Your name is not on it.
- Before Bo writes anything, the file is checked for malware (programs, scripts and PDFs with hidden JavaScript are refused) and Bo checks that it is the syllabus of a real course. If the class is on Mathub already, you are sent to it instead, so everyone shares one class per course.
- Bo on every page now comes with Mathub Pro: tap him in the corner of any page and ask about what you are looking at. Mathub Max adds Ask Bo’s own page and calls.
- A short tour of the new layout shows everyone around the sidebar, the header and Your day. Settings → Show the tour again replays it.
- On phones the top bar has room for the page name again: the section shows above it, and your streak and daily goal moved into the menu.
Your whole semester in one place
Sun, Oct 18, 2026 · build 2026.10.18.1
- A sidebar and a top bar on every page: today’s date and a clock, how far through the semester, the month and the week you are, one-tap New buttons for a task, an assignment, an exam, an event or a to-do, every page of Mathub in tidy groups, and a small calendar with your deadlines and exams marked. Hide it with the button at its top.
- Plan school: Tasks and assignments (a week view, a board you drag cards across, and your class deadlines added in one tap), a Timetable that builds itself from your classes’ meeting times and goes on your phone’s calendar, a Calendar with month, week and list views, a Time tracker that counts the hours per class, and Projects for theses, papers, labs and talks with their steps spread out until the due date.
- Plan life: Habits with streaks, Goals by quarter with steps, the Wheel of life you score each month, a Journal with a mood for every day, and Money with a budget per category.
- Plan what’s next: a Career board for internships and jobs from “interested” to “offer”, and a Portfolio page you can print.
- Clocks: tap the time for a clock face, and add your home time zone to see the time back home too.
- The start page now shows Your day: today’s classes, what’s due, a pomodoro timer, your to-dos, events, habits and goals. Customize picks which cards show.
- Everything you plan is saved with your account, so it is the same on every device, and it works offline too. Events can remind you before they start.
Mathub in Español and Русский
Sat, Oct 17, 2026 · build 2026.10.17.2
- Mathub now speaks Spanish and Russian. Pick your language at the bottom of any page or in Settings; it follows your account to every device, and a browser set to Spanish or Russian gets it on its own.
- Bo answers in your language too, in the chat, the floating panel and on calls, and gives the English word in brackets for key terms, since your exams are in English.
- Class notes, questions and flashcards stay in the class’s own language. Dates are written your way.
- French, Italian, Portuguese and German are on the way.
Bo is on every page
Sat, Oct 17, 2026 · build 2026.10.17.1
- Bo now floats in a corner of every page. Tap him (or press Alt+B) and ask about what you’re looking at, or about any topic.
- He sees the page: the questions on it by their numbers, what you answered and whether it was right, the notes you’re reading, your code. Tap Q3 and he helps with Q3; “Go over what I missed” and “Check my answers” do what they say. The eye at the top turns his seeing off.
- Point at anything on the page and he looks at it, or select some text and tap Explain.
- Add a photo or a PDF of a problem set and he works through it with you.
- His board comes right into the little chat: drawings, sliders and questions to answer. It’s the same chat as Ask Bo, so you can pick it up there.
- Drag him to either side; he stays where you put him. Settings → “Bo on every page” turns him off.
Bo’s board does a lot more
Fri, Oct 16, 2026 · build 2026.10.16.3
- Bo’s drawings come out far more reliably: the board now reads what he means even when the description he writes is a little off, and if a drawing still can’t be drawn, the board says so instead of leaving a gap.
- New on his board: tangent and secant lines with their slopes, Riemann sums with their total, sliders you drag to see what a number does to a graph, the unit circle with exact values, pie charts, scatter plots with the best-fit line and r, box plots, Venn diagrams with shaded regions, flow charts, and code.
- Bo can put a question on his board for you to answer right there: tap a choice or type the answer, see at once whether it’s right and why, and ask him to explain it or give you another. On a call he hears what you picked and goes on from there.
- After each answer, one tap to go on: explain it more simply, another example, a quick question, or a drawing.
- Missed a question in the Quizzer or your mistakes notebook? “Ask Bo about this” opens the chat with the question and your answer already sent.
Bo’s board works on calls
Fri, Oct 16, 2026 · build 2026.10.16.2
- On a call, what Bo writes and draws now shows up on his board next to him, like in the chat.
- When he says “let me sketch that” and draws, he goes on to walk you through it instead of going quiet, and if a drawing didn’t work he fixes it.
Bo explains like a great tutor, and draws
Fri, Oct 16, 2026 · build 2026.10.16.1
- Bo now teaches the way the research on great tutors says works: he finds out where you are first, starts with the big picture, takes one idea at a time, shows a worked example and then hands more of it to you, and checks with a real question instead of "does that make sense?". When something doesn’t land, he tries a new angle.
- On calls he takes the time to explain something new properly (with the board), then checks in, instead of only asking questions.
- Bo draws on his board: graphs of functions (with points, shaded areas, tangent lines and asymptotes), number lines, triangles and other figures (angles, vectors, forces), tables, bar charts and histograms, normal curves and probability trees, drawn like a marker on a whiteboard.
Give anyone a membership
Thu, Oct 15, 2026 · build 2026.10.15.4
- Administrators can give any member Mathub Pro or Max from Members in the admin panel, free for them: with no end date, for a month, three months, six months, a year or until a day they pick, with a note only administrators see. The member can be told in their inbox. Giving it never charges anyone, and it can be taken back any time.
- Members shows each member’s plan and where it comes from (given, paid or a tester plan), and can list only the members with Pro or Max. Name, joining date and activity now share one column, so the whole table fits.
- Your plan says when a given plan ends, and if you also pay for a plan yourself, it still lets you manage or cancel that one.
Tidier pages, and adding members
Thu, Oct 15, 2026 · build 2026.10.15.3
- Ask Bo has a clear way back: Your classes and the class’s own page, at the top.
- No more floating buttons over the page: the focus-sounds bubble only shows while something plays (start sounds from the top bar, the start page or the Focus room), and Back to top no longer sits on top of links.
- The start page’s buttons sit in two tidy rows on phones, and the admin panel’s tabs are one scrolling row.
- For administrators: add anyone from the admin panel, with any email address, a role and a plan; they get an email to choose their password.
A proper welcome, and keys in the admin panel
Thu, Oct 15, 2026 · build 2026.10.15.2
- A new welcome when you sign up: a short animated walk through Mathub, then you pick your classes and your membership (Free, Pro or Max).
- Requesting a new class is now for professors and TAs, who send the official syllabus. Everyone can make any class from its syllabus with Create a class.
- For administrators: API keys, the email password and the other settings can be changed from the admin panel (Keys & settings), with Check buttons that try them.
Bo’s board, and your plan in one place
Thu, Oct 15, 2026 · build 2026.10.15.1
- Bo’s board: when Bo works something out, he writes it on his whiteboard, neatly, a page at a time: a title, numbered steps with their math, the answer in a box and a tip. It sits beside the chat (above it on a phone) and on calls, and you can flip back through every page.
- Bo on the start page: Call Bo, Ask Bo and Write a class are right on your start page now, with what you have left this month.
- Your plan: a new page (in your account menu) with your plan, how it is paid, when it renews, what you have used this month, the plans side by side, billing and receipts.
- Cancel any time on Your plan: it tells you what changes and when, and your plan stays on until the end of the month you paid for.
Call Bo: a real conversation
Wed, Oct 14, 2026 · build 2026.10.14.2
- Calling Bo is now a live conversation, like a phone call: he answers in about half a second in a natural voice, waits until you are done, and stops the moment you talk over him.
- Bo talks like a friend who is great at your class, not like an assistant: short, real, and he asks what you think before he explains.
- He still writes the math on his board while he talks, remembers what matters for next time, and the whole call is saved in your chat.
- A new call screen: Mute, Photo, Type and End, a call clock, captions you can turn off, and settings for his voice, how fast he talks and how quickly he jumps in.
- If a live call can’t connect, basic voice takes over.
Talk with Bo out loud
Wed, Oct 14, 2026 · build 2026.10.14.1
- Talk with Bo: tap the mic on Ask Bo and have a real conversation. He listens, answers out loud within a couple of seconds, and listens again when he is done, so it is hands-free. Tap him to cut in.
- Bo’s board: when a formula helps, Bo says it in words and writes it on his whiteboard at the same time.
- Bo’s answers now appear as he writes them, in the chat and in the call, and any answer in the chat can be read aloud.
- Pick Bo’s voice and speed, turn captions or hands-free off, type instead of talking, or show him a photo of a problem in the middle of a call. What you said is saved in your chat with Bo.
- The Privacy Policy explains which speech services hear you, and that Mathub keeps no audio.
Mathub Pro and Max, and Bo, your AI tutor
Tue, Oct 13, 2026 · build 2026.10.13.4
- Two plans: with Mathub Pro ($15 a month) Bo writes your classes from their syllabi; Mathub Max ($50 a month) adds Ask Bo, your AI tutor.
- A new Create a class page: drop in your syllabus (a PDF, a photo or the text) and Bo builds the whole class, unit by unit, while you watch his progress. The example class, share codes, class files and your own AI are under Other ways.
- Ask Bo: talk with Bo about any of your classes. He knows the syllabus, your next exam, your weakest topics and the questions you missed, and you can send him a photo of a problem. On a wide screen, what he knows about you sits beside the chat, where you can delete it.
- Bo is a tab in the apps and a button at the top of the website, and exam week has “Ask Bo to quiz you”.
- The Terms and the Privacy Policy explain the plans and what is sent to Anthropic, the company behind the AI Bo runs on, when you ask Bo something.
Make, share and sync your own classes, and exam week
Tue, Oct 13, 2026 · build 2026.10.13.3
- Create a class is now on the website too. Classes you make are saved with your account, so they are on the website and in the apps wherever you sign in.
- Mathub Create can be bought on the website (checkout by Stripe). One subscription works everywhere you sign in with the same account, including one bought in the app.
- Share a class you made with a link, a code or a QR code. Anyone can open it and add a copy; they never see your name or progress. You can stop sharing at any time, and anyone can report a shared class.
- The start page on the website now works like the apps: pick a class to see its next exam, how ready you are, the next lesson and the unit you are in, beside today across all your classes and the class’s tools.
- Exam week: from 7 days before an exam, the start page and the class page show a plan for today (your weakest topic, flashcards, a timed practice exam near the end, the prep checklist) and for each day until the exam.
Mathub Create in the apps
Tue, Oct 13, 2026 · build 2026.10.13.2
- Making your own classes in the iPhone and Android apps is now part of Mathub Create, a monthly subscription through the App Store or Google Play. The example class is free, and every class you already made stays free.
- If your subscription ends, the classes you made stay on your phone, locked, and open again with your progress when you subscribe. Settings has Manage subscription and Restore purchases.
- The Terms (section 1.12) and the Privacy Policy now explain how the subscription works, and that RevenueCat, the subscription service, only sees the store purchase and a random ID.
A clearer start page in the apps
Tue, Oct 13, 2026 · build 2026.10.13.1
- The start page in the iPhone and Android apps now shows everything at a glance: for the class you pick, the week and what it covers now, your next exam with the days left and how ready you are, and one Continue button into your next lesson.
- Every lesson on the path now has its name and where you stand on it beside it (up next, not started, mastered), so you can see the whole class without tapping around.
- Today across all your classes sits right on the start page: your daily goal, flashcards to review, questions to retry and what is due soonest. The class tools are there too, one tap away.
- Focus sounds moved into the class menu in the apps, so the floating button no longer covers the page; it comes back while something is playing.
The apps get a look of their own
Mon, Oct 12, 2026 · build 2026.10.12.4
- In the iPhone and Android apps the start page is now your path: a card for each of your classes along the top, and the chosen class laid out lesson by lesson, unit by unit, with Bo waiting at the next one and each exam as a checkpoint. Tap a lesson to start it, practise it or read its notes.
- A new top bar in the apps shows your streak, today’s XP and your account. Tap the class button for every tool of that class in one sheet, or to switch class or make a new one.
- Learn, Practice, Today, Board and Me sit along the bottom, with bigger buttons for thumbs. The website looks the same as before.
Mathub for Android, and how to delete your account
Mon, Oct 12, 2026 · build 2026.10.12.3
- Mathub is coming to Android too: the same app as on iPhone, offline, with Create a class, reminders and the back button working the Android way.
- The policy page has a new section, Deleting your Mathub account (mathub.space/#/policy/delete): how to delete it yourself in Settings, how to ask us if you cannot sign in, and exactly what is deleted and what is kept without your name.
Block members, and Mathub for iPhone and iPad
Mon, Oct 12, 2026 · build 2026.10.12.2
- Block is now under every post and comment in Discussions, next to Report. Blocking someone hides their posts, comments, study sessions and notifications from you right away, and the post goes to the moderators. They are not told. You can see and undo your blocks in Settings, under Blocked members.
- The Terms and Community Rules now say it plainly: no tolerance for abusive posts, and every report is looked at within 24 hours.
- Mathub is coming to iPhone and iPad. The app works offline, needs no account for any study tool, and adds Create a class: give any AI your syllabus with the app’s instructions, paste the answer back, and the class (notes, flashcards, practice, calendar) is saved on your phone.
- Links you share (a discussion, a Python snippet, your calendar feed, an invite) always point at mathub.space.
Mathub Faculty: a workspace of its own for professors
Mon, Oct 12, 2026 · build 2026.10.12.1
- The professors’ section moved out of the student site into Mathub Faculty: one “For professors” button on the start page (and in the footer) opens a separate workspace with its own frame, a navy sidebar, serif headings and quiet controls, and none of the mascot, XP or game pieces.
- It is built around writing the syllabus: one page each for the course details, people and office hours, description and outcomes, materials, schedule, exams, grading and policies, with the finished syllabus beside the form, updating as you type and marking the part you are editing. Print it or save it as a PDF from any page.
- Anyone signed in can write, print and save syllabi right away; publishing to students, the roster, announcements, assignments, attendance and insights turn on once an administrator confirms your faculty status.
- A class page for the overview (what is missing, the join code, links to the public syllabus and to the class as students see it), class settings with unpublish and delete, and a full-screen check-in code for the projector.
- A class you teach no longer shows up among your own classes on the student site; you can still open it there as a preview.
Mathub for professors, and a security and privacy overhaul
Sun, Oct 11, 2026 · build 2026.10.11.1
- Instructors can now run their class on Mathub at #/teach: build the syllabus in a guided form (MSU’s accommodations, integrity and wellbeing statements already filled in, a checklist of what is missing, a schedule that fills itself from the meeting days and skips holidays), print it, and publish it. Students join with a 6-character code and get the calendar, exam countdowns, a grade calculator with their instructor’s weights, the syllabus and a class board.
- Instructors can post announcements that reach students’ inbox and phone, assign practice from Mathub’s question banks (everyone gets their own version), take attendance with a 4-digit code, and see where the class struggles. Students see exactly what their instructor can see before they join: name, email, results on that class’s assignments and check-ins, nothing else.
- Joined a class? Your class hub is at #/class, with announcements, assignments and check-in.
- Settings has two new things: Download my data (everything stored about your account, as one file) and Signed-in devices, with Sign out everywhere else.
- Under the hood: a Content-Security-Policy with no inline scripts, HTTPS-only with HSTS, protection against being framed, fonts served by Mathub instead of Google, safer server error messages, a common-password check, timing-safe logins, a locked-down account server, browser error reports for the admin panel, a real “page not found” page, and every page tested against WCAG 2.2 AA.
New class: M 172 Calculus II
Sat, Oct 3, 2026 · build 2026.10.03.1
- M 172, Calculus II, is on Mathub, built from the Fall 2026 syllabus: the trail up to each of the four exams, notes for every section from substitution to Fourier series, a formula sheet with every technique and series test, 80 flashcards and four practice exams with worked solutions.
- Its quizzer has over a hundred kinds of questions, from u-substitution and washers to the ratio test and Taylor polynomials, with fresh numbers every time. Type exact answers like 2pi/15 or e^2-1, or a decimal.
- Pick your lab day (Tuesday or Thursday) in the class settings and the calendar shows only your labs. WeBWorK due dates, drop deadlines and breaks are on the calendar too.
Two new classes: PSCI 230D and EMEC 100
Fri, Oct 2, 2026 · build 2026.10.02.4
- PSCI 230D, Introduction to International Relations, is on Mathub: notes for every topic, key terms and thinkers, flashcards, an endless quizzer, and the trail up to each midterm.
- EMEC 100, Introduction to Mechanical Engineering, is here too: topic notes, units and formulas, flashcards and a quizzer. It has no exams, so its dashboard shows when the class meets next and how it is graded.
- Both come with the site now, so they appear for everyone as soon as it is updated.
A brighter Mathub, and Bo is the logo
Fri, Oct 2, 2026 · build 2026.10.02.3
- The new look from this morning was too plain, so Mathub got a proper redesign: bright and friendly, in the spirit of the learning sites millions of students use, but made for Montana State. White cards on a sky-blue page, each class in its own colour, friendly bold lettering (Gabarito and Figtree), and buttons you can almost feel: they have a chunky edge and press down when you tap them.
- Your class dashboard is now an illustrated mountain. Every section on your next exam is a stop on a winding trail up the mountain to the summit flag, coloured like ski runs by how you are doing: green circle, blue square, black diamond, or a white ring if you have not tried it yet. Bo stands at the stop you are on, with a big button to take it, and the next items on your prep checklist sit right beside it so you can tick them off.
- Bo is the logo now: his face is in the sidebar, on the start page, in your browser tab and on your home screen if you installed Mathub. Links to Mathub you share show him too.
- The start page has a sky-and-mountains header with Bo on the Bridger Range, and your classes are bright tiles in their own colours, each with its own little pixel picture: an integral for Calculus, Newton’s apple for Physics, a graph for Precalc, a scroll for Writing, a computer for CSCI, a potion for Biology, a heart for Kinesiology and a brain for Psychology.
- Dark mode is a night sky with a moon over the mountains. The other looks (Realm, Bobcat, Paper, Forest, Midnight) are still in Settings → Look.
A new look: the trail map
Fri, Oct 2, 2026 · build 2026.10.02.2
- Mathub got redesigned around one idea: every class is a mountain and its next exam is the summit. Each class dashboard now opens on a trail board: the exam, its date and how many days are left, then every section on the exam as a run up to the summit, marked green circle, blue square or black diamond by how hard that topic is for you right now (a hollow ring means you have not tried it yet). A red “You are here”, with Bo standing beside it, sits on the run to take next, and one button takes it. The board comes right under the headline, so on a laptop the whole trail and that button fit on the first screen.
- Section notes mark every topic the same way, so you can see your hard runs from the contents.
- The look itself: plain paper and flat map inks instead of gradients and glow, Barlow and Barlow Condensed lettering (the typeface drawn from public road signs), ruled sections instead of cards inside cards, exam reminders on trail-sign yellow, and a night map in dark mode. Bo and the pixel Bridger Range stay, now as the horizon of the start page and the ridgeline over every trail.
- The words changed too: the dashboard says how many days are left until your exam and how to get up there, and the start page says who made Mathub and why. On your first visit the start page shows your classes first, then three steps to get going.
- The drifting symbols in the background and geek mode are now off unless you switch them on in Settings. The other looks (Realm, Bobcat, Paper, Forest, Midnight) are still in Settings → Look.
Polish: easier to read, smoother to use
Fri, Oct 2, 2026 · build 2026.10.02.1
- Easier to read: no label a student has to read is smaller than 11 px any more, the Physics and Precalc buttons are a shade deeper so white text on them passes contrast checks, and the exam card in dark mode uses a deep shade of each class colour instead of white on a pale one.
- On phones the focus-sounds button moved into the top bar, so it no longer covers flashcard buttons or answer boxes, and its panel drops down from there. Messages now rise above the tab bar instead of sitting on it.
- Smoother motion: dialogs and messages now ease out instead of vanishing, the active tab slides between tabs, and sidebar groups open and close smoothly. Every button presses in the same way. With Reduce motion on, controls still fade their colours instead of snapping.
- Your week plays like a story: the bar at the top fills as each slide runs, numbers count up, the chart and accuracy ring draw themselves, and holding a finger on the slide pauses it.
- Study guides and section notes show a thin reading-progress line at the top of the screen as you scroll through them.
- Smaller fixes: “Walk me through it” is a normal button again instead of a bar across the question, “5 due” stays on one line in Today, the report flag is easier to tap, and flashcards say “Tap” on phones.
Classes without exams
Thu, Oct 1, 2026 · build 2026.10.01.4
- Classes graded only on coursework now say so: the dashboard shows the days to your next class and how the class is graded instead of “Semester complete”, and the top bar and class card read “No exams”.
Answer letters fixed
Thu, Oct 1, 2026 · build 2026.10.01.3
- In BIOB 160, KIN 322 and PSYX 340, questions with five choices showed “undefined” instead of the letter E in the quizzer, lessons and the daily challenge. Every choice now has its letter, and the number keys 1–6 pick answers.
New classes, without waiting for an update
Thu, Oct 1, 2026 · build 2026.10.01.2
- Classes can now be added to Mathub straight from the admin panel, so a class you request can go live the day its syllabus arrives, with notes, practice questions, flashcards, the calendar and a grade calculator.
- When a class you asked for goes live, your inbox and your phone tell you, with a link straight to it.
- A Request a class link now sits in the sidebar of every class, under the class switcher.
- New classes show up everywhere the others do: the start page, search, Today, resources, your calendar feed and reminders.
Request your class
Thu, Oct 1, 2026 · build 2026.10.01.1
- Don’t see your class? Request it from the start page, the class picker, Settings or search. Send the course code and attach the syllabus (PDF or Word, up to 10 MB) or paste its text, and Mathub builds the class: notes, practice, the calendar and a grade calculator.
- A Most requested list shows which classes students are asking for. Add your voice with one click; classes with the most requests and a syllabus are built first.
- Your requests show their status (requested, being built, on Mathub), and your inbox tells you when it changes, with a link straight to the new class.
- Syllabus files are only seen by Mathub’s administrators and are never posted. You can withdraw a request while it is new, which deletes the file. The privacy policy explains the details.
Three new classes: BIOB 160, KIN 322 and PSYX 340
Wed, Sep 30, 2026 · build 2026.09.30.1
- BIOB 160 Principles of Living Systems: 22 topic notes from the chemistry of life to DNA technology, every lecture and the four exams on the calendar, 86 flashcards, a formulas and key-terms sheet, exam prep, and a quizzer that generates Punnett squares, Hardy–Weinberg, pH, respiration, codon and PCR questions with worked answers.
- KIN 322 Kinesiology: 14 topic notes from planes and axes to gait, 81 flashcards, a key-terms sheet with ROM norms, nerves and lever rules, and a quizzer with torque, muscle-force, lever, convex–concave, knee-test and gait-timing questions. Pick your lab section in Settings and your labs and lab practicals land on the right day.
- PSYX 340 Psychological Disorders: 18 topic notes on the disorders in the syllabus, 67 flashcards, a criteria sheet, and a quizzer with timing and severity rules (episodes, PTSD vs acute stress, substance use severity, the psychosis ladder). The two sections meet on different days, so choose yours in Settings and the calendar and exam dates follow it.
- Grade calculators for all three with the syllabus weights. KIN 322 tries all six exam-weighting options and uses the best one, as the syllabus allows.
- Each class has its own colour, study pages under /learn, resources and a new guide on studying for biology, anatomy and psychology exams.
- Every class calendar now lists what is coming up next to the legend, and pages with their own Print button no longer show a second one.
Simpler screens
Mon, Sep 28, 2026 · build 2026.09.28.1
- The start page now reads top to bottom in four groups: the header, your next step, your classes, and an Explore section with tabs for this week, the community, study guides and (for visitors) what is inside.
- First-time visitors get three numbered steps instead of a wall of widgets: pick a class, take a five-minute lesson, then sign up or come back tomorrow.
- Focus, the d20, the GPA calculator and choosing your classes sit together as one row of quick actions. The scrolling activity ticker is gone; the same activity lives in the Community tab.
- Class cards show what is being covered and the next exam, one button to continue and your progress ring. Deadlines moved to This week and Today.
- The sidebar is grouped by what you want to do: Study and Plan are open, More tools, Community and Class info fold away until you need them.
- Class dashboards open on two panels, Today and Keep going. The exam card sums up readiness in one line with a link to the details, and five tabs hold the rest: This week (with Canvas), Readiness, Progress (stats, daily quests and your league), Planner and Community.
- Streak and XP widgets appear after your first bit of studying, the inbox bell only shows when you are signed in, and the preview note for visitors is one line you can close.
Pixel art, and Classic is the default again
Sun, Sep 27, 2026 · build 2026.09.27.6
- Classic is back as the default look. Realm (parchment, runes and dice) is one click away in Settings → Look, and the d20 and the character sheet work in every look.
- Pixel art made by hand: the Bridger Range at 8 bits along the bottom of the start page with Bo standing on it, a pixel friend in every empty box, a coin on every XP pop-up, a pixel flame on your streak and a star on level-ups.
- A trophy when you finish a strong lesson or every quest, pixel Bo blinking while a class loads, a "Game over · Continue?" screen when a download fails, an arcade HUD in Blitz with a hi-score screen, and pixel potions, invaders, scrolls and books in the character sheet inventory.
- The footer is signed: handmade with love in Bozeman.
The Realm: a fantasy tabletop look, a d20 and your character sheet
Sun, Sep 27, 2026 · build 2026.09.27.5
- A new look called Realm, now the default: parchment and ink by day, a starlit dungeon by night, Cinzel headings, gold corner ornaments, gem buttons, a map and compass on the start page and runes and dice drifting in the background. Body text stays Helvetica Neue; Classic is one click away in Settings → Look.
- Every class is a character class: Calculus I is the Wizard, Physics I the Artificer, Precalculus the Ranger, Writing the Bard and CSCI 127 the Warlock.
- Roll a quest: a d20 on the start page and every class dashboard tumbles and picks what to practise, leaning towards your weak topics. A natural 20 grants a Blitz, a natural 1 sends you to your nemesis.
- Your character sheet (account menu → Character sheet): six ability scores from real study data (streak, Blitz best, focus minutes, accuracy, flashcards, days studied), a level per class, proficiencies, a nemesis and an inventory of potions, scrolls and monsters to slay.
- Bo wears a wizard hat, levels have Realm names from Commoner to Legend, and geek mode decodes headings in runes and teleports between pages.
Geek mode
Sun, Sep 27, 2026 · build 2026.09.27.4
- Page headings decode from random glyphs into their text, with a blinking cursor at the end; the breadcrumb and panel titles follow in a wave.
- A terminal status line types the page you opened and how long it really took (for example cd calc/notes/1.1 ✓ 84 ms), and a scanline sweeps the screen on every page change and theme flip.
- Opening a class prints a boot log of the files as they download, with their real size and time.
- Dialogs power on like an old monitor, toasts read like shell output, dashboard tabs swap with a stepped wipe, cards materialise top-down, primary buttons shed a few bits and the logo glitches on hover.
- There is also a code. Try the arrow keys, then B and A.
- All of it is on by default; Settings → Preferences → Geek mode turns it off, and Reduce motion turns it off too.
Helvetica Neue
Sun, Sep 27, 2026 · build 2026.09.27.3
- One typeface for the whole site: Helvetica Neue for text, headings and numbers. Apple devices use their built-in copy; everyone else gets TeX Gyre Heros, a free Helvetica-metric family served from the site, so pages look the same on Windows, Android and Linux.
- Headings are bolder and tighter to suit it; the logo wordmark stays Poppins and code stays monospace.
The Mathub logo
Sun, Sep 27, 2026 · build 2026.09.27.2
- The new logo everywhere: a navy M whose right diagonal is a rising blue arrow, the Mathub wordmark and the line Learn / Practice / Excel. Sidebar, start page, sign-in, install prompt, home-screen icons, social cards, static study pages and emails all carry it, and the mark adapts to dark mode.
- Brand colours: pages that belong to no class (start, Today, Focus, Settings, the board) now use the logo blue as their accent; classes keep their own hue.
- A maskable home-screen icon so launchers that crop to a circle keep the whole M.
A new look, a mistakes notebook, streak freezes, calendar sync, focus together and tools for instructors
Sun, Sep 27, 2026 · build 2026.09.27.1
- A colour system where every hue has a job: indigo for learning, green for progress, amber for rewards, coral for deadlines, teal for focus, violet for community. The floating background now carries physics, code, writing and chemistry glyphs and soft shapes, not only math.
- Mistakes notebook: every question you miss in practice, lessons, Blitz or the daily challenge comes back with its explanation on a schedule until you get it right twice. Today shows how many are due.
- Streak freezes: hit your daily goal on three days of a week and you earn a freeze (you can hold two); it covers one missed day on its own.
- Calendar subscription: one private link puts every exam and deadline of your classes into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook, updated automatically (Settings → Calendar subscription).
- Focus together: the focus room shows who else is in a block right now, their task and time left, plus the minutes the whole site focused today.
- Cheat-sheet builder: pick formulas, big ideas and pitfalls from any topic, add your own lines, print one page. My notes and highlights on every topic page, synced to your account.
- Class goals: each class has a shared weekly target for questions answered; section boards on the Leagues page rank you against the people in your section.
- Instructors and TAs can post announcements to a class, pin threads and mark a mock exam official. Invite links give both students a badge. A Sunday planning email lists next week, if you turn it on.
- For the admin: a Growth tab with sign-ups per week, active members per day, retention by cohort and which features get used.
The big one: focus room, resources, guides, Blitz, readiness, your week, tools and motion
Sat, Sep 26, 2026 · build 2026.09.26.1
- A Focus room: 25, 50 or 90-minute blocks with a task, sounds and a daily goal; the timer keeps running anywhere on the site and every minute counts toward your streak, quests and XP.
- Resources: 130 curated links per class, for Montana State (tutoring, Writing Center, counseling) and for studying in general, with search, saved links that follow your account and a broken-link flag on every item.
- Sixteen study-skills guides written for these classes: the ten-day exam plan, active recall, focus blocks, office hours, test anxiety, notes, physics problems, getting unstuck in code and more.
- Exam readiness: one score per class from your practice, flashcards and checklist, with the three topics that raise it fastest.
- Blitz: ninety seconds of rapid-fire questions with combo multipliers and a best score per class.
- Your week: an animated recap of the last seven days with a share card.
- Tools: scientific calculator, unit converter, MLA and APA citation builder, word counter with reading time, and a sig-figs helper, all offline.
- Animations everywhere: staggered cards, ring and bar fills, a loading bar, micro-interactions, a first-visit tour, four new looks (Bobcat, Paper, Forest, Midnight) and a Reduce motion switch.
- Print or save any notes, formula sheet, calendar or planner as a PDF.
Today, problem reports, notifications and faster loading
Fri, Sep 25, 2026 · build 2026.09.25.2
- A Today page with one plan across every class: due flashcards on a spacing schedule, a lesson on your weakest topic, the daily challenge and anything due in the next 48 hours.
- A flag on every question, lesson step, flashcard and topic page to report a wrong answer or a typo.
- Push notifications the evening before something is due and when a streak is at risk (Settings → Account).
- Only the class you open is downloaded now, so the site starts about twice as fast on a phone.
- Search works across every class, with class chips to narrow it down.
- An install prompt for the home screen, empty states with Bo, nightly database backups for the admin, and preferences that follow your account between devices.
- Accessibility pass: a skip link, named controls, announced dialogs and AA contrast for small text and chips in both themes; a public release-notes page and a social card per class.
